Andrew Baswell

Andrew Baswell, 27, is an athlete for Special Olympics Missouri who lives in Kansas City. He will be attending the 2017 World Winter Games to compete in alpine skiing. Baswell participates in basketball, softball, tennis, flag football, bowling and track and field during the rest of the year. Outside of Special Olympics, Baswell loves to work out, go to the movies, listen to music and play video games. He is very active and loves to go on walks. He’s in incredible shape and can run a mile in less than six minutes. He graduated from high school in 2008 and works at Blue Valley Industries working on the assembly line. Baswell has been involved with Special Olympics for 10 years after his group home staff told him about the program. Being able to represent his city, state and country at the World Games is “very exciting” to him. “It’s my first time going on a plane, so I’m a little bit nervous,” Baswell said. “It’s the first time I’ve got to go (to the World Games), so it means a lot.”
