Josh Myers

Athlete • Powerlifting • Rock Hill, South Carolina

Josh Myers has been participating in Special Olympics since an early age. His first international competition was the 1999 Special Olympics World Games in Raleigh, North Carolina where he was one of the youngest athletes on Team South Carolina's soccer team. That soccer team is still together and competing, as recently as the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle. Josh is an all-around athlete and has trained and competed in bocce, bowling, swimming, soccer and others, but his passion has grown for powerlifting. Each spring he competes at Special Olympics South Carolina State Summer Games in powerlifting. In 2015, he set a State Games record and personal record of 501.5 lbs in the squat. On top of training, he works several jobs. He's a clerk at Walgreens, he's a certified lifeguard at the local YMCA and he works at York Technical College. Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 will be Josh's first time competing in powerlifting on the international level, and he can't wait to show the world what he's capable of lifting!
