Tyrone Garrett was limited in his ability to participate in Special Olympics prior to losing 100 pounds in 2013. Now he proudly enjoys running, biking, swimming and floor hockey! In addition to shedding his excess weight and keeping it off, he considers representing the United States at Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 one of his lifetime accomplishments. His sister is his athletics coach at home and helps him train on the weekends and after work to help him prepare for his debut on the world stage. He enjoys his job as a material handler and likes to help others by donating food and clothing on a regular basis. He cannot wait to travel outside the United States for the first time to Abu Dhabi in March!
