In addition to having won multiple National cycling championships and competing on the international stage as a cyclist and speedskater, Cindi Hart has been recognized for the following awards: the 2005 Woman of Character, 2006 US Olympic Coach of the Year, recognized as a Komen Honorary Survivor, recipient of the Reverend Charles Williams award and Coach of the Year by the National Council of Youth Sports. During the year of the 40th anniversary of Special Olympics, she was named as one of the 40 top Special Olympics coaches in the world. She sits on the Special Olympics International Sports Resource Teams for Speed Skating and Cycling and has also served as Technical Delegate for the World Games in both sports. After being diagnosed with Cancer in 2004 and again in 2008, she founded a nonprofit organization supporting cancer survivors called "Spokes of Hope," became an inspirational speaker and authored a book entitled, "Determined," recounting her experiences with cycling, cancer and Special Olympics.
