Josh McClellan from Bloomington, Illinois began competing in Special Olympics Illinois in bowling 18 years ago. Since that time he has tried many sports including basketball, track, volleyball, softball, swimming and snowshoeing, but he will be competing in Unified Tennis at the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 with his Unified Partner, Greg Hayward. They will be extending their tennis season by practicing indoors to prepare for the World Games. Josh earned two silver medals at the 2006 Special Olympics National Games in Ames, Iowa. He says Special Olympics has without a doubt changed his life because the organization has helped him be more social while staying physically active – and he has found success in both those areas. He enjoys gardening very much and owns a plot in the local community spot. Josh enjoys meeting new people and is a firm believer that everyone brings something to the table. This is the first time Josh will be traveling outside of the country and he is excited to make new memories, try new foods and hear a new language.
