Joseph "Joe" Woodland of Washington, D.C., has competed in Special Olympics for more than 10 years, which has provided him the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and play his favorite sports. He will represent Special Olympics USA in athletics. In 2018 and 2022, Joe competed at the Special Olympics USA Games in athletics. As part of his training regimen, Joe runs in the city and completes track workouts.
He is employed at the Department of Homeland Security and works in the building’s cleaning services department. His hobbies include bowling, playing video games, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. He most admires his mother, who raised him, and will be proudly cheering him on as he competes in the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023.
