Karelle Reidhoefer of Mesa, Arizona, has competed in Special Olympics since the age of 8, participating in basketball, bocce, cheerleading and volleyball. She has been training in basketball for the past six years and will represent Special Olympics USA in that sport. Through Special Olympics, Karelle has made many friends and memories, learning to always try her best.
An advocate for others, Karelle was named the 2015 Goodwill Ambassador of the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. She is active in community theatre, with her latest role being Lina Lamont in “Singin’ in the Rain.” She looks up to her mother, Betty Jean, who she strives to be just like. As part of her training regimen, she practices twice weekly. For Karelle, attending the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 is the accomplishment of a lifetime.
