Jared “Jay” Jesperson of San Diego, California, has coached Special Olympics athletes in basketball and golf for 10 years. He will represent Special Olympics USA as a caddie for his son, Jayson, who is competing in golf. Before his involvement with Special Olympics, Jay coached Jayson’s older sisters in basketball. Being able to do the same for his son was important for Jay. When Jay’s wife was diagnosed with an advanced stage of breast cancer nearly a decade ago, the entire family became an unbreakable support system, helping her to progress into the healthy individual she is today.

Jay is a dentist at Utah Orthodontic Care and spends his hours outside of work training alongside his son on the golf course. He is also involved with church activities in his community. Above all, attending the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 is a proud moment for the entire Jesperson family.
