Joseph “Joe” Bockerstette of Phoenix, Arizona, has supported his daughter Amy as a caddie since 2016. He will do so again representing Special Olympics USA in the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023. An important organization to the Bockerstette family, Joe has watched Amy excel with Special Olympics. Named Golfweek’s Father of the Year in 2019, Joe is inspired by his daughter’s confidence and determination. That same year, Amy and her family established the I GOT THIS Foundation to promote golf instruction and playing opportunities for people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. Joe serves as a board member for the foundation. He has also served as board chair for the National Down Syndrome Society.
In 2022, Joe attended the Special Olympics USA Games with Amy. He continues to train with her, walking regularly to build endurance for competition in the World Games, which represents a special opportunity for Amy to demonstrate her golf skills internationally.
