Teresa Sullivan of San Antonio, Texas, has participated in Special Olympics for more than 25 years. She has volunteered, coached and now serves on the Special Olympics Texas Games Management Team. In the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023, she will represent Special Olympics USA as head coach in kayaking. Special Olympics has developed Teresa’s understanding of many peoples’ ways of life. Her athletes make her the proudest, seeing the look on their faces when they achieve their goals. In 2011 and 2019, Teresa served as a coach in the Special Olympics World Games. She coached in the Special Olympics USA Games in 2014 and 2022.
She is the founder and executive director of SAFIRE (San Antonio Fitness, Independent and Recreational Environment), a recreational center for individuals with intellectual disabilities. She sets high expectations for her athletes and is ready to watch them rise to the occasion in the World Games.
