Adam Johnson of Smithfield, Rhode Island, has been involved with Special Olympics as a volunteer, Unified partner and coach for 20 years. He has participated in athletics, basketball, bocce, bowling, flag football, soccer and softball. He will represent Special Olympics USA as an assistant coach in golf. In 2021, he was hired on staff with Special Olympics Rhode Island. One of his favorite Special Olympics athletes to cheer for is his younger sister Lizzie.

Adam has attended the 2014 and 2022 Special Olympics USA Games as well as the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019. A former NCAA track and field athlete at Rhode Island College, Adam feels a great sense of pride in sharing his passion for sports with Special Olympics athletes. He also shares in that passion with his wife, who he refers to as forever his assistant coach.
