Keondre Hopkins of New York, New York, started competing with Special Olympics in 2017. As an athlete, he has competed in basketball, floor hockey and soccer. He will represent Special Olympics USA in soccer. Along with his team from the City Hawks Unified Training Club soccer team, Keondre won gold in the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games. He has risen to the challenge of learning to play goalie, recognizing that his teammates rely heavily on him. As a student at 721M, he works to promote inclusion within the school environment on the Principal Student Advisory Council.

During gym class and after school, Keondre practices with his teammates. He also enjoys playing baseball, basketball and video games. Keondre most admires his family for their support and the strength that they provide him. Special Olympics has changed his life, giving Keondre confidence and teaching him how to be a better teammate and athlete.
