Nicholas “Nick” Romalewski of New York, New York began competing in Special Olympics as a Unified partner this year. Giving him the opportunity to rediscover his passion for soccer, Nick will represent Special Olympics USA competing with City Hawks Unified Training Club. Nick is proud of the community he has built for himself, hanging out with his friends and participating in extracurricular activities outside of school. A student at Harvest Collegiate High School, he is a member of Harvest Collegiate Circle Keepers, a group of student leaders who are certified in peer mediations and restorative justice. Recently, their group attended South by Southeast® Conference & Festivals in Austin, Texas, to educate others about restorative justice.

In middle school, Nick was the starting goalie for his school’s varsity soccer team. He attends practice with his teammates and studies soccer tactics to hone his skills. Competing in the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 gives Nick the opportunity to spread the message of inclusivity, while growing closer with his teammates.
